DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

This story is inspired by a recent conversation that took place between my mom and I. Few months back I was going through a rough patch, mentally and physically. I was less appreciative of the things and people I have in my life and was constantly cribbing about my conditions. While talking to her, she made me realise how we tend to take things in life for granted. There are people in this world who are battling with bigger problems such as a life threatening disease and still choose to fight every single day with a smile on their face. This idea motivated me to write a story about being grateful.

Being away from home for more than 6 months now has been a big challenge for me. There going by no day I do not talk to my family and tell them how much I miss them. This is why I decided to include the concept of families both for Olivia and Mike. One, who is an orphan and would do anything to get her parents back and the other, who has disrupted relations with his family due to his own stubborn behaviour.

And finally, my take on the concept of love stories. It is often said that you write what you experience. For me, love stories always felt unreal to certain extend and this is why I was always hesitant on writing one. I would always question myself do people really fall in love despite the flaws the other person posses? Maybe it is my personal experience. Whenever we come across a love story, we tend to think it would have a happy ending. Well, not every love story ends with a happily ever after.

This story shows how two people who are struggling in their own way find comfort and love in each other. But most importantly, it shows how grateful we should be with everything we have because we tend to realise the importance of something or someone only when it starts to slip away from our hands.
